Examines the role of sculpture in understanding and constructing the concept of race in the United States. The exhibition brings together 82 sculptures created between 1792 and 2023 and ranging in size from palm-sized coins to monumental statues created from diverse media such as bronze, marble, shoes, paper, and hair. Made by 70 different artists, these sculptures are displayed to allow for juxtapositions of historical and contemporary works that invite dialogue and reflection on notions of power and identity. 

The Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture

Most plants are relatively harmless, but beware some of the unique survival features plants have evolved to defend themselves against herbivores, infection, and plant competitors! Explore this new multisensory exhibit that shares the ferocious side of the bright and beautiful plant world. 

Visitors are invited to test their reflexes to see if they can move faster than several carnivorous plants like Venus flytraps and bladderworts, then sit on a fabric prickly pear or thistle while learning about these spiky plants, or even take a (safe!) selfie with poison ivy.

The dynamic and indefatigable artist collective known as the Guerrilla Girls mark their fortieth anniversary in 2025. The group, who declared themselves “the conscience of the art world,” emerged in 
1985 with bold text- and graphic-based prints denouncing discrimination. Comprising anonymous feminist-activist artists, the Guerrilla Girls are known for their provocative street campaigns and the advertising-style graphics that they use to broadcast their messages across billboards, buildings, banners, and other sites.

The Georgetown BID is hosting their 22nd annual Georgetown French Market April 25 - 27, 2025. This popular open-air market - originally inspired by those often seen in France - will feature sidewalk sales and specials from more than 40 locally-owned boutiques, cafés, and galleries along Wisconsin Avenue from O St to Reservoir Rd., plus live music, stilt-walkers, face painting, a mime, and more. Neighborhood restaurants will also offer food and drink specials featuring French cuisine and beyond - from pastries, croissants, and macarons, to lunch items grilled outside, and wine discounts.

While James Bond is a fictional character, he embodies the spirit of many real spies in this museum. These men and women, from around the world, were inspired by over six decades of the Bond film franchise and its enduring cultural influence.

Twelfth Night

DC’s favorite summer concert series returns with a variety of performances including jazz, Latin fusion, R&B, and more. Join us in the Sculpture Garden on Fridays from May 23 through July 11 (no concert July 4).

To give everyone an equal chance of attending this popular program, we offer registration through a lottery. The lottery takes place the week before each event. It opens on Monday at 10:00 a.m. and closes Friday at noon. We notify all lottery entrants whether they were selected to register the Monday before each program. If selected, you’re welcome to register for up to 4 passes. Registration is required for ages 2 and up.
